Book Review: The Collector's Encyclopedia of Shells

This is overall favorite resource. It has tons of specimens from all over. It has photos for all of the shells. The only negative that I can think of is that it doesn't include the common names, which isn't really that big of a deal for me. I have heard of some other encyclopedias that are better, but this is the best one that I own. They are on my wishlist, but they cost over $100 each!

Book Review: Hawaiian Seashells by Mike Severns

This book has been so helpful in identifying so many of our shells. It includes many specimens with clear photos. It gives a little introduction in front of every section which includes a little bit of information.

Sorry, the previous owner of the book added some colorful illustrations on top of the Bilvavia section. ;)

109 mm Conus leopardus (leopard cone) Hawaii --#1

Although it is almost 11cm (109mm), it is rather small for the leopard cone. This specimen was found in Hawaii by Margaret Faverty. Full disclaimer: I am not 100% sure that this is a Leopard Cone!?!? It could also be a Conus litteratus, but I think I have it right. ;)
